In order to preserve and expand the Camp Harrington experience,
The CHAA dues go towards supporting a variety of causes.
These causes include:
1) The Partner With Youth Campaign. This YMCA of Central
Massachusetts fund raiser raises over 400,000 annually to ensure
that families in central Massachusetts can afford camp and
childcare.
2) YMCA Camp Harrington's "Camp Improvement Fund." This
fund, supported by Camp Families & Alumni, raises between
5,000 and 8,000 annually. All the money goes directly towards
improvements needed for Camp Harrington and the CHAA Board
of Directors and Facility Advisory Group meet (with the Camp
Director) to allocate how funds are spent each year
3) The Camp Harrington Scholarship Fund (starting in 2007)
supports mini-grants of 250 to 500 to 1000 dollars for camp alumni
in college or professionally. Applications (and criteria for
eligibility) for the Scholarships will be made available in the
Summer of 2007 and the 1st Scholarships will be handed out in
January of 2008 at the 1st Annual Camp Awards/Reunion Dinner
at the Greendale YMCA.
4) Staff Appreciation Fund. This was started in 2002 to help
parents that may want to do something special for camp staff (tips
are against YMCA policy). They can now make a donation to a
general fund that is used to support the Annual August Formal
Staff Dinner and provide staff with a CD, a Puzzle Piece (camp
tradition started in 2006), door prizes, and the host family a thank
you gift)
