2008 Summer Camp Positions

Assistant Director:
The Assistant Director at Camp Harrington is
responsible for the program schedule, camper
groupings, staff duty schedule, attendance
records, and general 1st aid of campers/staff.
The Assistant Director oversees and evaluates
all the Sr. Counselors.
Pay Rate: 10-15/hr
Director of Camp
Programming (DCP):
The Director of Camp Programming at Camp
Harrington is responsible for the administration
of camp opening and closing, camp songs,
family nights, all camp special events, the day-
to-day events, staff games, camp pictures, and
staff evaluations. The DCP oversees all the
camp specialists (aside from the H20 Director)
and holds bi-weekly meetings with specialists.
Pay Rate: 8-11/hr
Inclusion Director (ID):
The ID at Camp Harrington is responsible for
the administration of the inclusion program,
inclusion camper groupings, inclusion staff
placement, attendance records, general 1st aid
of inclusions campers/staff, and the
maintenance of pre camp records and on going
camp records.
Pay Rate: 10-15/hr
Special Activities/Sports Director (SASD):
The SASD at Camp Harrington is responsible
for the development of special activities and
sports on a sessionly basis for all camper
groups. The SAD will incorporate new games,
unique crafts, speedstacks, and sports into
their activities. The SASD also serves as backup
staff for the adventure staff. The SASD will
develop the rainy day tent program for camp.
Pay Rate: 8.0-10/hr
Waterfront Director (WD):
The WD at Camp Harrington is responsible for
the waterfront program including but not limited
to: swimming lessons, free swims, and boating.
The WD will develop the rainy day program for
the boathouse and oversee all lifeguards
working at Camp Harrington.
Pay Rate: 10-12/hr
Adventure Directors (ADs):
The ADs at Camp Harrington are responsible
for the low ropes, high ropes, and rock wall
program and maintenance. ADs also are
responsible for the development of the rainy
day pavillion program.
Pay Rate: 8-11/hr
Arts and Crafts Director (A&C D):
The A&C D at Camp Harrington is responsible
for the development and administration of the
arts program.
Pay Rate: 8-10/hr
Drama/Science Director (DD):
The DSD at Camp Harrington is responsible for
the development and administration of ZOOM
related science, engineering, and drama/theater
arts programming with all groups at camp.
Pay Rate: 8-10/hr
Archery/Outdoor Education Director (AOED):
The ASD at Camp Harrington is responsible for
the development of the archery and sports
program. The ASD is responsible for the tent
program during a rainy day.
Pay Rate: 8-10/hr
Director of Leadership Programming (DLP):
The DLP at Camp Harrington oversees all Sr.
Counselors, the JCs, and the LDP & LIT
Directors. The DLP is responsible for the
administration of the JC Mentor program, the JC
POW WOWs, LDP and JC evaluation process,
and special events related to JCs and LDPs.
Pay Rate: 9-12/hr
LDP Program Director (LDPD):
The LDPPD at Camp Harrington is responsible
for the development of the Leader program and
it’s schedule, Leader service time groupings,
administration of the camp store, attendance
records, and oversight of the Leader family
event.
Pay Rate: 8-11/hr
Sr. Counselors (SCs):
The SCs at Camp Harrington serve as the main
role models for the Junior Counselors at camp.
SCs have the same day to day responsibilities
of camp counselors, but SCs are also expected
to take on a administrative role to help the office
staff. These roles include but are not limited to:
Staff Duty scheduling, Family Night
Administration, Junior Counselor POW WOWs,
Junior Counselor summer evaluations, Staff
Gathering development, etc.
Pay Rate: 8.0-10/hr
Camp Counselor (CCs):
The CCs at Camp Harrington are responsible
for the day to day behavior management and
program schedule for a group of like aged
children. CCs will maintain attendance records
and ensure that children participate in all
aspects of the camp program.
Pay Rate: 8-8.5
Junior Camp Counselor II (JCC):
16-17 year olds with 1 years camp experience
are elligible for split camp contracts
(volunteer/paid). JC IIs are typically on 1/2 paid
& 1/2 volunteer contracts (other options are 1/3
paid / 2/3 volunteer, & 1/3 volunteer / 2/3 paid...
etc).
Junior Camp Counselor (JCC):

Lifeguards (LGs):
The LGs at Camp Harrington are responsible for
the YMCA Swim lesson program, guarding
during free swims, and acting as the cartified
guard during caneoing.
Pay Rate: 8-11/hr
Inclusion Staff (IS):
The IS at YMCA Camp Harrington work hands
on with the children with special needs and
disabilities. IS can serve as 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 aids
dependent on the needs assessment of the
children at camp.
Pay Rate: 8-11/hr
Camp Mentor (CM):
The CMs at Camp Harrington are a younger
branch of the inclusion staff. CMs are typically
14-15 and serve as a 1:1 mentor to a child with
mild special needs. Mentors are contract
employees and receive a weekly 100.00 stipend
for their services while they are considered
volunteer junior staff.
Pay Rate: 100/week stipend
Maintenance/Groundskeeper (MG)
The MG at Camp Harrington is responsbile for
the general caretaking and upkeep of all
grounds and facilities here on-site at Camp.
Some specific duties include trash collection,
bathroom cleaning, landscaping, fixing broken
items around camp, etc. Applicant must be
handy and have the ability to maintain the high
standards of cleaning expected at Camp
Harrington. A Car is a plus as trips to Home
Depot/Lowes are often necessary!
Pay Rate: 8-12/hr
