Lunch Expectations
During lunch – you need to remember that you are still
working. Counselors are still responsible for their
campers. Counselors need to make sure they know were
their campers are at all times. The camp store is open for
forty minutes during lunch. Campers MUST finish their
sandwich before going to the store with a buddy.
Campers MUST go to the store with a buddy and they
MUST tell you first. You may socialize with other
counselors but you MUST also watch the kids.
There will be NO “COUNSELORS ONLY” table.
Counselors may sit at picnic tables with campers and staff.
Counselors should not be sitting at a table all facing each
other chatting as they eat. If you are at a table – you can
not see a child playing on the slide. Counselors MUST
move around and be aware of everything. After a child
finishes eating – they may play on the playground, at the b-
ball court, near the pavilion or in the field. Staff – must
supervise ALL areas. If the counselors would like to close
certain areas until they are finished eating they may.
However – it can not be due to laziness and not wanting to
move. It must be due to safety. As soon as, a counselor
finishes their lunch – he/she should open the desired areas
(if it is safe to do so). Counselors MUST have their kids
ready for afternoon periods by 1:10
Going ABOVE and BEYOND:
1) Kids LOVE when they play a sport or game of some
kind at lunch. For many kids – that game is their favorite
part of the day. Games like: kickball, lacrosse, soccer,
football – etc. are enjoyed by kids of all ages. Many times
the kids need the staff’s enthusiasm to run that game and
get it going. Kids love when multiple staff people play the
lunch time game. (If the game requires equipment – you
want to make sure there is enough equipment for everyone
who wants to join. We can’t say – you can’t play.)
